The box and letters of his were some years ago placed in my possession by…the eldest son of the general & from which I drew a brief sketch of his life which was inserted into the 2d Volume of Mr. Herring’s ‘National Portrait Gallery.’” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, scattered creases, and show-through from address panel on reverse.
