Corbett became Heavyweight Champion of the World on September 7, 1892, when he knocked out champ John L. Sullivan in the 21st round of a fight held in New Orleans. He held his title until March 17, 1897 when he was knocked out by Bob Fitzsimmons in the 14th round of a bout held in Carson City, Nevada. In 1929, the year he signed this autograph, Corbett appeared as in interlocutor in the early Fox musical, "Happy Days". It premiered just six weeks after he signed this autograph, on September 17, 1929, in New York City. Vertical mid-fold touches lower loop of "J" of "Jas".
