American boxer (1905–1974) who was heavyweight champion of the world from 1935 to 1937 and whose career was dramatized in the Oscar-nominated 2005 film, Cinderella Man. Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in white ink “To Barnett Chaipen, with best wishes, Jimmy Braddock 6/26/36.” Light creases to each corner, small repaired tear to left edge, tack hole to top edge, and a few surface impressions, otherwise fine condition. Scarce photo signed as Heavyweight Champion of the World. At the time of signing, Braddock was training for a scheduled fight with Max Schmeling on September 3, 1936, which was cancelled under suspicious circumstances.
