A finely detailed and vibrant hand-colored engraving titled Horned Monkey and Four-Fingered Monkey, published in London on February 1, 1800 by G. Kearsley of Fleet Street. This natural history illustration features two monkeys depicted in expressive poses within a stylized landscape. Published by G. Kearsley, Fleet Street. The plate is numbered 28 at the top left and it is engraved by James Heath, a prominent British engraver to King George III and Queen Victoria, whose mark appears as Heath sculp in the lower right. Elegantly matted and framed in a carved gold frame with double matting and decorative inlay. A rare and early zoological print reflecting the era’s fascination with exotic animals and taxonomy.
