Rare full ink signature, “James A. Garfield,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2 card. Contemporary date notation to the lower left of May 15, 1881, makes this likely signed as president. Mild overall toning, light rippling, and mounting remnants to reverse, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by eight cards, each signed by a member of his cabinet. Signers are: Chester A. Arthur, Robert Todd Lincoln, James G. Blaine, William Windom, Samuel J. Kirkwood, Wayne MacVeagh, William H. Hunt, and Thomas Lemuel James. Various scattered toning, soiling, and light rippling, otherwise overall fine condition.
