This is an awesome sterling souvenir spoon commemorating the life of James Garfield. Garfield was considered the last of the "Log Cabin" Presidents. He was born in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, put himself through school and was a college president before being elected to the state Senate in 1859. He served in Congress for 18 years. He was elected President in 1880. He was shot after only 4 months in office and died 6 weeks later. The front of the handle has a bust of Garfield with his signature, his birthplace and a figure that appears to be Garfield giving a speech. The bowl has an embossed depiction of the Garfield Monument in Cleveland, Ohio. The back of the spoon has an American eagle and flag. This spoon measures 5.25" long, is hallmarked for Paye and Baker, and is in extremely good condition. Shipping to US addresses is $4.
