German-born physicist (1882–1964) who shared the 1925 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work related to the laws governing the impact of electrons on atoms. Autograph manuscript, one page, 8.5 x 11, no date. The first page of a draft for an article entitled “The photosynthesic conversion of light energy into chemical energy,” signed below the title as the author, “James Franck, Dept. of Chemistry, U. of Chicago.” A manuscript forwarding a “discussion of the assumptions on photosynthetic carbon dioxide reduction via photochemically provided reducing agents.” Franck made a few corrections and several words have been transcribed in another hand. In fine condition.
