Staff officer during the Civil War and cavalry regimental commander during the Indian Wars (1835–1906). ALS signed “James W. Forsyth,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 6 x 8, Headquarters Seventh Cavalry letterhead, November 29, 1893. Letter to an unidentified recipient. In part: “I desire to inform you, as requested, that I expect to leave here for this place on the…train U.P.R.R. on Friday Dec. 1st and ought to reach Topeka at about 3.…You may rest assured that James W. Forsyth is to be the only gentleman that will put in an appearance on the day and date noted.” In fine condition, with some scattered light creases.
