James E. Pepper Whisky Ads
Lot of two signs on poster board backing. Each is an enlarged photograph from the Jack Johnson/James Jeffries fight scene of July 4, 1910. The first shows the two fighters facing each other in the ring. A “James E. Pepper Whisky, Born with the Republic” sign is clearly seen behind them, over the heads of the spectators. The caption at bottom reads: “World’s Championship Battle July 4, 1910—Round 14.” The second sign is captioned “World’s famous gladiators and promoters, Reno, Nev., July 4, 1910” and shows a group of dignitaries standing in front of the crowd, with the identical whisky ad sign behind them. The men in the photo are labeled by name. Each sign measures about 13 x 16” and all the corners but one have been broken off. City: [/b]GoldfieldCounty: EsmeraldaState: NV
