ALS, one page both sides, Wynne's Parc letterhead (struck through by Chadwick), December 23, 1968. Letter to Lieutenant General Leslie Groves, in part: "As you will see from the heading of this letter, we have returned to Cambridge…I had a little trouble, nothing at all serious, which prevented me from doing as much work in the garden as I wished, and so my pleasure and interest in the garden began to decline. It seemed that Wynne's Parc might become a burden rather than a joy. So when, a few months ago, I was offered this flat I accepted it although it was not quite what we wanted. We were fortunately able to sell Wynne's Parc quite quickly, rather too quickly, for we had only a few weeks in which to make all our arrangements….There are 2 blocks, each of 20 flats in Pinehurst, in 8 to 9 acres of garden, so it is quiet—I cannot say almost as quiet as the grave for nearly every inhabitant is over 70…I am awaiting news of your astronauts on their fantastic mission. I am not as apprehensive as many here, for I cannot think they would have been sent unless the odds on success were quite high. But it is not an experiment that I would like to have any part in." In fine condition.
