Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 7.5 x 7.25, February 19, 1861. Buchanan orders the Secretary of State to affix the seal of the United States to “a Warrant for the pardon of John C. Stanford.” Archivally double matted and framed with a portrait of Buchanan and a name plaque to an overall size of 21.5 x 16.5. In very good condition, with several horizontal folds and creases, scattered toning, including over signature, and some light spreading of ink to signature.
