Politician from Massachusetts (1726–1790) who was president of the state's constitutional convention; after independence he served as governor of Massachusetts. Bowdoin College in Maine is named in his honor. Scarce partial manuscript DS, one page, 8 x 3, December 1, 1785. The concluding portion of a document issued "in the Tenth Year of the Independence of the United States of America," boldly signed at the conclusion by Bowdoin as governor of Massachusetts, and countersigned by John Avery as secretary. In fine condition.
