Son (1788–1878) of Alexander Hamilton, officer in the War of 1812, acting secretary of state to Andrew Jackson, and US attorney for the Southern District of New York. ALS signed “James A. Hamilton,” one page, 8 x 9.5, October 26, 1833. Hamilton writes regarding a financial matter. In part: “I have directed Mr. Walsh my collector to call upon you on the first day of Nov. next for two hundred & ten dollars being one half year’s interest on your note for six thousand dollars I now hold.” In very good condition with intersecting folds, edge chipping, paperclip impression to top edge, and some light soiling over signature.
