Jamaica Inn. (Paramount, 1939). (3) Lobby Card (11 X 1 Jamaica Inn (Paramount, 1939).
Jamaica Inn (Paramount, 1939). Lobby Cards (3) (11" X 14"). Based on the Daphne Du Maurier novel (her first), Alfred Hitchcock takes us on the journey of orphan Mary (Maureen O'Hara) as she goes to live with her nefarious aunt and uncle. As proprietors of the Jamaica Inn, the aunt (Marie Ney) and uncle (Leslie Banks) are involved with pirates that lure ships onto the rocky coastline for their spoils. This was Maureen O'Hara's first starring role, which would immediately be followed by another Charles Laughton film ("The Hunchback of Notre Dame"). The left border of the O'Hara & Laughton portrait card was professionally replaced (it goes into the side graphic) and the borders were airbrushed. The other two O'Hara cards are unrestored with some writting on the bottom border of the three shot and some small border tears. The group shot has the least favorable grade of the lot, and has pieces missing out of the left border and has some corner issues. The overall card rating for these cards is a Very Good/Fine..
