Original stage-used snare drum and touring case belonging to founding Allman Brothers Band drummer Jai Johanny ‘Jaimoe’ Johanson. The drum features an off-white coated 14? Remo Weather King Emperor Batter skin and a Pearl steel drum with serial number “890012.” The drumhead is marked in black felt tip with its diameter, “14?E,” and is annotated in blue ballpoint, “Sha Ba Ba Ba Ba, Bop Bop Ba,” with added time markers for dual drummer Butch Trucks. The black hardtop case, 17.5 x 17.5 x 7.5, features a hard plastic carrying handle, a cotton, belt-style strap, and is stenciled in white spray paint on the top, “Allman Bros, Jaimoe, Case 59, Pearl.” Expected wear, dings, and soiling to the drum, head, and case, otherwise overall fine condition. As a stage-used instrument, personally played by Jaimoe during the band’s breakthrough run into the commercial spotlight, this snare drum serves as a resounding example of the power the Allman Brothers would famously project as a live band, with its case exhibiting all the wear and tear one would expect from such a tireless touring schedule. A spectacular piece of classic rock history.
