This painting in acrylic, titled ‘Two heads’, created the painter Jaime Colson, who comes from the Dominican Republic. Depicted are two heads in Cubist form language. The work was created during a phase when Colson lived in Hawaii, where he concentrated on painting colour intense and expressionist figures.



The painting ‘Two Heads’ by Jaime Colson is signed and dated on the lower left by the artist ‘Colson 57’. The work is, according its age, in good condition. The canvas is relined. The varnished colour surface shows under UV-light some craquelée and restorations. The dimensions are 59.5 x 49.5 cm.



Jaime Antonio Colson(1901-1975)

Jaime Antonio Colson studied from 1918 to 1924 in Madrid and Barcelona, where he came in close contact with the Spanish artists Rafael Barradas, Salvador Dalí, Maruja Mallo, and Fernando Briones. During a trip to Paris, great impact on his work took the artists Griss, Braque, Picasso und Leger. Colson lived from 1934 to 1938 in Mexico and got to know Orozco, Siqueiros und Diego Rivera. The Museo Bellapart in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) honoured his oeuvre with a large retrospective in 2008.
