This vase belongs to a group impressive jade vases inspired – in form and decoration – by early archaic bronzes. The taste of the Chinese emperor Qianlong, who was an admirer of the arts and crafts of the Bronze Age, entailed a renaissance of archaic shapes and motifs influencing jade carvers and other artisans in the 18th and 19th centuries.



Condition: One corner of the cover is restored. The height (without stand) measures 25 cm.
