Gorgeous jade carving with numerous motifs in a multi-stage relief

This carving was made of greenish-white jade and dates in the 19th century China. Depicted are fishes, an archaistic bat, a double gourd and other auspicious symbols surrounded by naturalistic ornaments. The translucent stone shows open work and a fine relief, which creates an exciting look and feel.



The carving is in good condition with only a few age-related signs of wear, such as a chip on the tail of the fish. The height measures 5 cm and the length is 9.5 cm.
