The present object is an elegant bowl, stylistically influenced by the fine Mughal jades, which were highly appreciated during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. Finely carved pieces from Mughal India, Mongolia and Xinjiang were introduced to the imperial court during this time and Chinese carvers strove to imitate this Mughal style. The pieces are characterized by thin walls and naturalistic motifs. The subtlety and simplicity of Mughal style carving allows the beauty of the jade stone itself to be revealed.

Condition: The jade bowl is in good condition. Small irregularities in the stone, which the carver consciously integrated into his work, can be seen. The diameter is 16.4 cm.
