This Stunning Bowl was carved from a piece of fine grained KHotan White gemstone more than 200 years ago. The Sinkiang White jade is the best Imperial hall jade gemstone. It was mined in the Kunlun Mountains of the Sinkaing Province, which is famous of its reserve of high quality Mutton Fat White Jade. The Color of the gemstone is celadon with slight russet inclusion. The opening is the hexagon form. The exterior of the bow is carved with the Four of the Great Nobility/ The Four Gentlemen. In Chinese culture, the bamboo (zhú 竹), along with mei (méi 梅, the same tree as Japanese ume), orchids (lán 蘭), and chrysanthemum (jú 菊) are all held in high esteem and are collectively referred as "the four of great nobility" (四君子). Each plant represents a particular aspect of a noble person in Confucian ideology. The four plants are commonly mentioned together as "méi lán zhú jú" (梅蘭竹菊). The holder takes in the shape of the Blossoming Plums with Loose Hanging Rings. The base is the Marking of Qianlong Nianzhi (乾隆年制)in Small Seal Script Calligraphy. This indicates this gracious bowl was made during the Qianlong's Reign. Intricately carved, this set of treasures is definitely ONE OF A KIND.
