The present carving is modelled after archaic pieces from the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). Early discs of this kind were burial objects and were placed upon the body of the deceased to ensure immortality in the afterlife.
Condition: The BI disc is overall in good condition. There is a minor restoration to the edge as well as some small production-related irregularities. The diameter is 14.3 cm.
