Hand-addressed mailing envelope, 4.75 x 4.25, addressed by Kennedy to Nicholas Katzenbach, “The Under Secretary of State, Nicholas de B. Katzenbach, Department of State, Washington DC, USA,” adding “Air Mail” in the upper right and “Private” in the lower left. She adds her return address on the flap, incorporating her last name, “Onassis—Island of Skorpios—Greece.” The envelope bears two affixed Greek postage stamps, postmarked Glyphada, Greece, November 21, 1968. Various marks and soiling affecting her handwritten return address, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a color photocopy of the letter originally enclosed. Katzenbach had been deputy attorney general during John F. Kennedy’s presidency before serving as attorney general, and then undersecretary of state, under LBJ. Jackie had married Aristotle Onassis less than a month earlier on Skorpios, their private island.
