ALS signed “Jackie,” one page, 8 x 10.5, Doubleday letterhead, December 4, 1990. Kennedy, as a senior editor at Doubleday, writes advice columnist Ann Landers (Eppie Lederer). In full: “It was an avalanche! The week after your column, Cartoon History of the Universe sold 55,000 copies. They are so elated here, it would touch you. I can never thank you enough for your generosity.” Elaborately double cloth matted with a business card and candid color snapshot of Jackie and framed to an overall size of 18 x 25. In fine condition. Accompanied by a copy of an email from the aforementioned book’s author discussing the work and the column. While seeking a publisher, Gonick received early support from Jackie who worked as an editor at Doubleday and championed The Cartoon History of the Universe's publication. After a rousing endorsement in an Ann Landers column, sales were brisk prompting several more volumes from Gonick. An enthusiastic ‘thank you’ from the former first lady. Oversized.
