Typed draft of a letter with handwritten emendations in pencil, one page, 5 x 8, no date. Letter to Robert L. Breeden of the National Geographic Society. In full: "It is thrilling to finally have the painting of the Lincoln reception for Grant as a part of The White House collection, and I wish to thank you for initiating this 'coup.' How fitting to have it here where the event took place. Thank you for your share in making this contribution possible." At the end, Jackie writes a final sentence in pencil, "I think it is almost our most exciting acquisition so far!" In fine condition. Jackie's primary project as first lady was the restoration of the White House to reflect its historic past, and in doing so she solicited donations of important material and artifacts from various organizations.
