The American League Base Ball Club of New York business check, 9 x 3.25, filled out in type and signed by Ruppert and countersigned by Ed Barrow, “E. G. Barrow,” payable to R. J. Gilks for $333.33, July 31, 1924. Also endorsed by Gilks on the reverse. In fine condition, with expected cancellation holes and stamps (one light stamp affecting the middle of Ruppert’s signature). The recipient of this check, Bob Gilks, played professional baseball during the late 19th century and went on to be a scout for the Yankees.
