American film executive (1892–1978) who, in 1923, co-founded Warner Brothers studios with three of his brothers. TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, no date. Letter of thanks to Ted Ashton while recovering from an illness. In part: “Your good thoughts and wishes, together with so many others, helped a great deal to get me through the dark days. Am happy to report that I am now able to be up and about and within a very short time will be back at the Studio.” In fine condition, with intersecting mailing folds, and a few light creases. Ted Ashton, a Princeton graduate, began his motion picture career in 1947 in the publicity department at Warner Brothers. He soon became a unit publicist on many of the studios most successful films for the next 18 years. Among his many credits were Giant, Mister Roberts, Auntie Mame, East of Eden, Calamity Jane, The Green Berets, and Bound for Glory. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
