Lot of 6 medallions owned by Jack Swigert, containing flown metal commemorating the Apollo 8 mission. Aluminum medallions feature the bust portraits in profile of the crew all within a border containing their names Borman, Lovell and Anders and mission dates. Reverse side reads, ''In appreciation for your contribution to the Apollo Saturn Project the Apollo 8 crew carried metal in this medallion on man's first flight to the moon.'' Accompanied by a NASA COA and an identical letter on NASA stationery signed in print by Frank Borman. Text expresses gratitude to contributors and bestows the medal as a token of thanks. Lightweight medals measure 1.5'' in diameter. Five of the six medals are partially taped to paperboard and appear designated in Swigert's hand to various friends and family, ''Mom & Dad'', etc. Toning to certificate and NASA letter. Medallions are near fine save for adhesive residue to reverse of one medal. With an LOA from the Jack Swigert estate.
