SN: 47851 'O'Connor's 3rd .270 rifle, the Linden stocked Model 70' One of Jack O'Connor's favorite .270's, mentioned in the introduction of his book "The Rifle Book", and used to take his first Rocky Mountain bighorn ram, a mountain goat and also a moose. Jim Wilkinson purchased this rifle from Mr. O'Connor, who was a close and long time friend. It was one of Mr. Wilkinson's most prized possessions, he is pictured holding it in the article "Jack O'Connor The Rifleman's Rifleman" published in the March/April 2002 issue of "Rifle Shooter". Rifle features a blued finish, 24" tapered barrel, ramped & hooded blade front sight with bead top, Stith mounted Lyman Alaskan fixed power scope with post & intersecting crosshair reticle, serrated trigger, three position pre-war safety on the rear of the bolt, swept bolt handle, engine turned bolt, extractor & follower, internal box magazine with hinged floorplate, sling swivel studs and custom Alvin Linden walnut pistol grip shoulder stock with horn forend cap, fancy free-pattern hand checkering with arrows, knurled steel grip cap with stippled shield & knurled cartridge trap buttplate. Includes a copy of the March/April 2002 issue of "Rifle Shooter" and three additional sight hoods. Rifle exhibits approximately 95% of its blued finish showing light muzzle wear, some high point edge wear and a couple small scratches on the barrel. Action is smooth, the bore is excellent, the scope body shows wear though the optics are sharp, markings are good and the wood stock is very good with minor blemishes & semi-worn checkering.
