Jack Mitchell's Personal California Spurs. Attributed to the iconic Visalia Stock Saddle Company of San Francisco and probably made my Joseph R. Lamdin (1876-1955), these 1930s Northern California spurs were ordered, owned and worn by the famed Jack Mitchell, co-founder and first president of the renowned and historic Santa Barbara riding group, Rancheros Visitadores. The styling is classic "Visalia" with silver inlaid heelbands featuring the initials JM and birdshead shanks. 2" twelve-point nickel rowels partially covered by engraved silver washers, fully chased off-side. The original spur straps are sterling mounted with engraved scalloped conchos and silver spots. The 3-piece sterling buckle sets on the two-piece floral carved leathers are maker- marked "Visalia Stock Saddle Co. / S. F. / Cal." Very fine, 100% original condition with some original blueing remaining on the protected areas.
