Signed book: Living Psalms and Proverbs. Later printing. Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House, 1971. Softcover, 4.5 x 6.75, 745 pages. Signed and flight-certified on the first free end page in blue ballpoint, “Flown and read on Skylab II [3], Jack Lousma.” Presented in a gorgeous custom cloth and leather case, also signed inside, “This book was used for daily devotions on Skylab II, July 28–Sept 25, 1973, Jack Lousma, Pilot.” In fine condition. Originates from Lousma’s personal collection and is accompanied by his signed letter of provenance, in part: “It was, and is on Earth, my practice to augment my devotional life by reading and meditating daily on words from the Bible…This book was actually in space longer than I was because it was launched aboard the Skylab Space Station on May 14, 1973 by the Saturn V rocket.” Rarer than mission-used checklists, this is one of the few full books ever flown and returned from space still in private hands.
