TLS, one page, 7.75 x 9.25, CBS Television Network letterhead, November 10, 1972. In part: “I am sending you my very own McGarrett badge for your auction because I believe in your cause. The Chief of Police from Singapore was through Honolulu recently and requested one of these badges. We considered his request but decided that if we gave him one, we would set a dangerous precedent. So you see they are extremely rare. Other than two that were donated to the American Cancer Society fund raising and one or two other worthy causes, no one has ever received them from us, here or on the mainland. They have sold at these charity auctions for as high as $500 and never lower than $100.” Lord’s State of Hawaii Investigator Five-O Unit badge is included. Attractively matted together and framed to an overall size of 15 x 16.5. Letter in very good condition, with overall toning and scattered creases and soiling; badge in fine condition.
