Included in this lot for your consideration is a hand crafted saddle, by Jack Connolly, one of three sons of renowned tack maker - John Connolly. The three Connolly sons (Jack, Andrew, and Pat) split with their father in 1907 to relocate to Butte, Montana, which was the start up location of the first Connolly Bros Harness Shop. In 1912, Jack and Pat moved on to Billings, where Jack was credited with expanding the business into saddle manufacture. In the year of the stock market crash, which led to the Great Depression in 1929, Jack moved himself to Livingston, Montana, where Jack Connolly Saddlery was formed. Jacks craftsmanship is so exceptional, the saddle shows beauty through simplicity, only boasting tooling on the seat rise, and on the rear of the cantle. The seat rise is marked "Jack Connelly - Livingston, MONT", and is embellished by a scalloped border. In addition, the underside of each fender reads Jacks patent, "PAT2008977". The saddle shows a soft caramel color, and is accented by brass and copper fixtures. The saddle is additionally decorated with double-stacked, scalloped leather conchos. The saddle is provided to us by Western collector, Bud Chapman, from Bozeman, Montana. The saddle originates from 1929 to 1950, and shows good condition overall. The top of the cantle shows some chunking to the leather, though the saddle predominantly shows rich, hydrated leather, with minimal mating to the undercarriage. The saddle uses a 13 1/2" seat.
