Literature:Pyle, Hilary, Jack B. Yeats, His Watercolours, Drawings and Pastels, Irish Academic Press Dublin, 1993, catalogue no. 587, p.147 (illustrated)
On this work Pyle notes, "A composition very similar to that of the oil Knocknarea and The Flowing Tide, 1921. Three men stand by a wall near Rosses Point. Beyond is the small promontory, Horse Island. Knocknarea is on the far side of the narrow sea inlet".
Pyle also notes that the monogram, visible lower right, was added at a later date.
