Limited edition of 130 numbered copies; this copy not numbered, but instead
lettered "A". This is Yeats’ master copy, with each of the six hand-coloured
illustrations stamped with his monogram. It would have been used as a model for
the women at the Cuala Press, on which they based their colouring for the
subsequent 130 copies. The colouring here is infinitely more subtle, varied and
delicate than seen in other copies. Folio blue boards with white linen spine and
paper spine label. Publisher’s prospectus laid in and original tissue guards in
place. A uniquely important copy of one of the finest Irish books of the
century.
