The two Gouache paintings are the preparatory compositions for the original lithograph. <BR>All three works are Hand Signed in pencil at the lower right margin. <BR>The lithograph is also Hand Inscribed "E.A" (Eprouve d'Artiste = Artist Proof) at the lower left corner.<BR>The first Painting is hand inscribed on the backside: 1st Original gouache from which lithographs was made in Paris 1961. bears stock numbered No 3A.<BR>The second painting is hand inscribed on the backside: 2nd original of which lithographs was made after in Paris this is the actual one chosen 1961. bears stock numbered No. 4A <BR><BR>All three works bear the stamp of :"Collection Bergman the Israel Museum Jerusalem" in the backside of the paper.<BR><BR>Provenance : The Bergman Collection, The Israel Museum Jerusalem. <BR><BR>Charlotte Bergman, who died in Jerusalem on July 17 2003, one month before her 99th birthday, was unique among the museum's benefactors. She lived on the premises of the Israel Museum for three decades, and died there. When she made aliyah from New York to Israel in the 60's, the Belgian-born Bergman brought her collection of modern art with her and helped Jerusalem ex-mayor Teddy Kollek found the museum. <BR>As the childless widow of an English architect, she promised to bequeath her paintings, sculptures and ceramics by such 20th century masters as Marc Chagall, Raoul Duffy, Henry Moore and Pablo Picasso to the museum.
