Handhammered copper plaque from Palestine, pre 1948 Israel. Signed by the artist MERZER, upper left. He was one of the Bezalel artists of the early 20th century.<BR>Plaque comes in original old frame. The plaque measures 4X9 3/4inches. The frame has an arched top and measures 6 1/8 X 13 1/2inches. <BR>The plaque depicts a Yeshiva Student, a young boy in Chassidic clothes, a huge book under one arm walking along a cobbled street, bricked walls behind him. His eyes seem closed conveying an introspective appearance. <BR>Both plaque and frame are in very good condition.
