Unlike many of his paintings of the High Sierras, Sharp's use of color emphasizes the flowers in the foreground while the mountain range serves as a backdrop retreating into the distance. Sharp utilizes Impressionist techniques of manipulating perspective through a juxtaposition of cool and warm tones.
