(1943 - 1970) American rock and blues singer who incorporated the styles of Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday producing albums with Big Brother and the Holding Company and Full Tilt Bogie Band. Died of a heroin overdose in 1970. Signature and return address on the verso of an envelope addressed by her to her lover, Peter LeBlanc: ""Miss Janis Lyn Joplin 3130 Lombardy Port Arthur, Tex."". Envelope was roughly opened with the tear just barely missing the riser of the ""J"" in her first name, else very good.
