Main Description: Brass bead, smooth rib marked: Rigby & Co. 72 St. James's Street London and Dublin 1. Barrels chime and slightly loose on face, engraved receiver and sidelocks, automatic safety, extractor, double triggers, engraved underlever. Two piece wood stocks, checkered forearm with take-down lever, checkered straight grip, smooth steel butt plate marked: 1, vanity plate. Rigby Authentication Certificate confirming its delivery in 1883 and owner's information including a detailed history of the shotgun.

This Rigby is one of only three shotguns produced in this sequential series (15480–15482), Fully custom ordered, it represents the finest grade of shotgun Rigby produced at the time. Beyond its craftsmanship, this shotgun carries a remarkable Canadian provenance that was provided by the consignor. This firearm was tied to Robert Randolph Bruce, who would later serve as the 13th Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia (1926-1931). The firearm remained within one family for over a century, cherished for both protection and sustenance, before being entrusted to us for sale.


Wear: Metal finish is turning brown with pitting, scratches, handling marks and wear. Stocks show marks, scratches and wear.
