<B>JOHN PHILIP FALTER</B></I> (American 1910 - 1982) <BR><I>Theodore Roosevelt,</B></I> original illustration <BR>Watercolor on board <BR>15 x 10in. <BR>Signed on left <BR><BR>Born in a small town in Nebraska in 1910, John Philip Falter became a successful illustrator admired by peers as noteworthy as Norman Rockwell, who called him American's most gifted illustrator. Falter produced more than 200 <I>Saturday Evening Post</B></I> illustrations and also made a name for himself as a portrait painter. A musician himself, he had the opportunity to paint jazz idols such as Louis Armstrong and Art Tatum.
