JOHN J. PERSHING
(1860-1948) senior military officer and served as the commander of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) during WWI. Typed letter signed, June 29, 1932, Hotel De Crillon, Paris, Pershing writes to Walter L. Smith, a representative of L.C. Smith & Corona Typewriters, Inc. The letter is in response for an autograph request and Pershing thanks Smith for his congratulations on winning the 1932 Pulitzer Prize for his books 'My Experiences in the World War'. Pershing signs the letter in black ink. The letter comes with an envelope addressed back to Walter L. Smith with a small Republic of France stamp. Included in lot is volume I and II of 'My Experiences in the World War', by John J. Pershing, Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1931, volume I has 400 pages, volume II has 436 pages, hardcover. Dust jacket has some damage and loss, letter and pages are good condition.
