JOHN HOWARD
(1912 - 1999) British Army officer who led a glider-borne assault on two bridges between Bénouville and Ranville in Normandy, one of which became known as "Pegasus Bridge". With some reinforcements, he was able to hold the bridge against an attack by elements of the 21st Panzer Division, strongly supported by artillery. S.P. 6" x 4" b/w, a composite image of British gliders and a portrait of Howard, signed and dated 1997. Fine.
