The 1999-2000 tour included the Clarion Historical Society, Westmoreland Museum, Stroudsburg Historical Society, American Philatelic Museum, MGM grant Hotel in Las Vegas, Fairmont State College, NASA Classroom of the Future, Philadelphia’s 2000 GOP Convention Political Fest and the dedication of Patrick Henry College. Each is magnificently presented in custom framing, a worthy addition to any Revolutionary War or Colonial collection.</i></b><BR><BR></span><b><span style='font-size:14.0pt;font-family: Arial;color:windowtext;text-transform:uppercase'>Literally In His Brother’s Footsteps</span></b><span style='font-size:12.0pt; font-family:Arial;color:windowtext'><BR><BR>(1737-1793). American patriot and statesman; as president of the Continental Congress, he was the first <b>Signer</b> to pen his name on the Declaration of Independence and the most prominently inscribed. Hancock served nine terms as governor of Massachusetts. ALS “J. Hancock,” 1p, 8vo, Boston, Dec 22, 1756. On letter paper to his brother Ebenezer at Harvard with timely sartorial advice. In full, “My Dear Brother, have sent you a pair of Shoes, wch. [which] hope will suit you; Let me hear from you. we are all very well. Don’t wear them Shoes of mine any longer, for they look Scandalously. I am, Yr Loving Brother...” Ebenezer was evidently following in his elder brother’s footsteps at Harvard for John pens his address as “Student of Harvard College / At the Revd. Mr. Appleton’s / in Cambridge” with further direction to “Please forward immediately.” All boldly penned. Scattered light foxing; mounting stain, seal remnants and tear on integral leaf; o/w in very good condition. Handsomely matted above commemorative FDC featuring Hancock’s portrait and postmarked at Boston in 1985; and descriptive plaque. Contained under glass within attractive gilt frame. Overall 23"x22".</span></p>
