"...In compliance with the Request of the Two Houses, I have the Honor to Inclose you a Resolve & Petition this Day pass'd on the Subject of the Lands laying to the West of Hudson's River which belong to this Common Wealth; as the Subject is so fully explain'd in the Petition I need only Refer you to it, & shall not add, save to Request that you will be pleased to Take the earliest opportunity to lay this Application before Congress; and to use your best Influence to Engage the immediate Attention of Congress to it, and to transmit their Decision as soon as possible.
