<B>John H. Twachtman (American, 1853-1902)<BR></B></I><I>Arques-La-Bataille</B></I>, 1885<BR>Print<BR>25 x 33 inches (63.5 x 83.8 cm)<BR> John H. Twachtman was born in Cincinnati of German immigrant parents, studied art briefly in Ohio but traveled to Munich and on to Paris where he really honed his skills and dark palette. This print is one of his most famous works, <I>Arquells-La-Bataille</B></I> which he completed circa 1885 and is now at the Cincinnati Museum of Art. Having been described as being in the influence of James McNeil Whistler and with the flattened-space look of Japanese painting, this work was produced while Twachtman was in Paris studying at the Academic Julian.<BR><BR>A copy of the original painting that is currently in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.<BR><BR><BR><b>Shipping:</b> Requires 3rd Party Shipping (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.heritageauctions.com/common/shipping.php">view shipping information</a>)
