<p><b><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:windowtext'>[JOHN BROWN] </span></b><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Arial; color:windowtext'>(1800-1859). Abolitionist hanged for treason after his unsuccessful attack on Harper’s Ferry. Three strands from the executed abolitionist’s hair with copy of certification from noted handwriting and manuscript expert Charles Hamilton. The hair strands were removed by Hamilton from an old envelope inscribed “<i>John Brown’s Hair,</i>” which was “<i>apparently in Brown’s own handwriting. The lock of hair was probably sent by Brown to an admirer. This envelope, with the hair inside, was recently discovered in a collection of important John Brown letters.</i>..” VG.</span></p>

1. Auction Catalogue No. 19 is a Mail, Fax, Phone, Email and
Internet Live Bid Auction and is conducted under the laws of the State
of West Virginia by Gil Griggs, Licensee of Charleston, W. V. License
No. 002.
2. Absentee bid closing date is April 5th, 2002, 10:00 PM EST.
3. There is a 15% Buyer’s Premium charged on the final hammer price
of each lot. An additional 2½% Premium will be added to any lots
purchased through ebayliveauctions.com.
4. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid for any
reason.

6. In the event of duplicate high bids, the earliest bid received
will be the winner.
