<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>(1906-1984). British poet laureate remembered for his nostalgic writings as <i>A Few Late Chrysanthemums</i> (1955). He is recognized also for his works on Victorian architecture. A nice collection of three ALsS and five TLsS, two postcard ALsS, two TNsS and one secretarial typed postcard, 13pp total, various sizes, London, Oct 6, 1964-Oct 25, 1974 [where dated]. On his “43 Cloth Fair” imprinted stationery to his friend Ray Robinson, a fellow member of the Wantage Cricket Club. Mostly Betjeman graciously accepts or declines for various reasons to attend the Annual Cricket Dinner, mentioning his various travel plans, work schedule including film business and lectures, his health and news of his family. With regard to being knighted, he interestingly writes, “<i>I feel a bit of a fraud...</i>” Light wear; overall VG.
