“Winners will be notified after the auction ends and once all bids have been processed to determine the winner for each lot”
President John F. Kennedy telegram, dated 21 November 1963, 6:18pm while campaigning in Texas -- and likely the last letter sent before his assassination the very next day. Western Union ''Telefax'' telegram was officially sent from the White House and is addressed to television executive Thomas W. Sarnoff with a headline reading: ''First Annual Brotherhood Testimonial Dinner Le Grand Thianon Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Care Asst MGR on Duty Beverly Calif''. Telegram sends congratulations to actor Danny Kaye who was being honored at a tribute dinner. Reads: ''On the occasion of your first annual brotherhood testimonial dinner I am delighted to join the members of the broadcasting and motion picture industries in this tribute to Danny Kaye. That you have singled out Danny Kaye -- known and admired throughout the world for his work on behalf of UNICEF for your first award is most appropriate. Danny Kaye has given generously of his talents to all peoples of the world, particularly to children, and I am happy to extend to him my congratulations and best wishes. The White House has recently felt the absences of its most constant watch-dog, Sander Vanocur, and it is encouraging to know that Mr. Sarnoff is exercising his executive prerogative in putting him to work again this evening. I hope that his talents as an entertainer in Beverly Hills will not permanently improverish [sic] us of his news sense in Washington. To all of your members who are joined in a common concern for the human rights and opportunities of all Americans, I extend every good wish / John F Kennedy''. Telegram measures 6.5'' x 4.5'' on two pages, with staple holes and a few numeric markings, including the number ''3'' circled in red pencil on page one. Near fine condition.
