Official copy of “Certificate of Death” for President John F. Kennedy processed 11 December 1963 by the by the Registrar of Vital Statistics, Dallas, Texas. Partially reads: “Usual Occupation - President of the U.S. / Date of Birth - May 29, 1917 / Birthplace - Brookline, Mass. / Father’s Name - Joseph P. Kennedy / Mother’s Maiden Name - Rose Fitzgerald / Was Deceased Ever in U.S. Armed Forces? - Yes WWII / Informant - Evelyn Lincoln / Time of Injury- 12:31 p.m. / Cause of Death - Multiple gunshot wounds of the head & neck / Describe How Injury Occurred - Shot by a high powered rifle.” Continues with a statement by the Justice of the Peace: “I hereby certify that I held inquest on November 22, 1963. Death occurred at 1:00 Pm on the date state above, and to the best of my knowledge, from the causes states” signed on the original “Theran Ward.'' Original also signed by the Funeral Director “V.B. O’Neal.'' Accompanied by a signed letter from Lee Harvey Oswald’s brother, Robert L. Oswald which reads, “...While the Warren Commission was still investigating the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, after she had testified, my mother, Mrs. Marguerite Oswald, wanted to make sure that President Kennedy’s death certificate did not have Lee’s name on it. She went to the Dallas County Clerk’s Office and requested an official ‘True Copy’ of the ‘Certificate of Death’ of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. It did not have Lee’s name on it. It says that the President was ‘Shot by a high powered rifle...” Document measures 6” x 5.5”. In very good condition with light mid-horizontal fold and creased corner.
