JFK Civil Rights Press Releases
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Two original press releases issued by the Kennedy Administration, both dated 30 September 1962. The first, an executive order, instructs the Secretary of Defense to ''take all appropriate steps'' to remove obstructions of justice in Mississippi. The second release is a transcript of the telegram sent to Governor Barnett directly questioning him on his intent in preventing James Meredith from matriculating at Ole Miss. Kennedy requests a reply by the end of that day. Both documents measure 8.5'' x 14''. Very good condition.
